Visioner för Helsingfors

Helsingfors stad och grannkommuner utlyser öppen tävling för att ta fram förslag till stadens långsiktiga utveckling fram till 2050. Från tävlingsprogrammet:

"Greater Helsinki is one of the most dynamic metropolises in Europe. In the next 50 years its population is predicted to grow from the present 1.3 million to 2 million.
With 70 million square metres of foreseen new construction, the overall physical structure of Greater Helsinki can be re-shaped in a way that will reinforce its position as a leading cultural and technological centre in the Baltic area. This transformation should not, however, forget the particular love of nature in Finland, nor sustainable urban infrastructures.

The physical world in which we operate should offer a civilised, civilising and inspiring environment for human collaboration, for human endeavour and above all, for human dreaming."

Tävlingsledningen uppmuntrar deltagare att tänka fritt och stort:

"This is the purpose of this competition or should we say visionary adventure. The chance to dream afresh, to accept current realities, not as negative restraints but as spurs to the imagination."

Tävlingen öppnades 15 december och avslutas 31 maj 2007. Den totala prissumman ligger på 500 000 euro.
